Violinist Geoffrey Herd has performed throughout the United States, Latin America, and Asia and is frequently sought after as a recitalist and chamber musician. He has appeared at venues including Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. His chamber-music collaborators have included Ani Kavafian, Clive Greensmith, James Dunham, and Laurie Smukler.
Geoffrey has performed concertos with orchestras including the Rochester Philharmonic, Thailand Philharmonic, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Amherst Symphony, Finger Lakes Symphony, University of Tennessee Symphony Orchestra, and Longmont Symphony. A strong proponent of new music, he was a founding member of Vicennium Void and has given premieres of music by Pierre Jalbert, Daniel Knaggs, and Chris Walczak.
He is the founder and artistic director of the Geneva Music Festival in New York’s Finger Lakes region. The festival presents internationally acclaimed artists, champions diverse programming, and brings educational concerts to area schools.
Geoffrey has taught at the University of Tennessee and now serves on the faculty of the University of Louisville. He studied at Rice University, the Yale School of Music, and the Cleveland Institute of Music with Ani Kavafian, Paul Kantor, William Preucil, and David Updegraff.
