Violinist William Shaub was appointed Concertmaster of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra in 2017. Since his concerto debut with the Canton Symphony Orchestra at age 12, he has appeared as a soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, and concertmaster. He was an inaugural Academy Fellow with the New York Philharmonic and is a graduate of the Juilliard School.
William’s solo appearances include performances with the Knoxville Symphony, Canton Symphony, and Suburban Symphony, and at venues including Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall, Cleveland’s Severance Hall, and Harvard’s Sanders Theatre. He has performed with the New York Philharmonic, served as guest leader of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and led festival orchestras at Spoleto and the Music Academy of the West.
His chamber-music work includes Kneisel Hall, the Breckenridge Music Festival, Vail Dance Festival, Canada’s National Arts Centre, Da Camera of Houston, and the Focus! Festival at Juilliard. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Juilliard and later studied in the Artist Diploma program at Rice University.
William performs on a violin made by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume in 1865.
